British Airways has announced that it is to launch a new domestic route this summer. The British flag carrier will operate flights from London Heathrow to Newquay for just over 2 months. As the flag carrier of the United Kingdom, British Airways flights to many destinations. These are both within the United Kingdom and further afield, as far as Sydney Australia. However, with its newest destination, British Airways is looking much closer to home. The British Flag carrier is launching a new service from London Heathrow to Newquay in Cornwall.
London to Newquay
At 210 miles, the route from London Heathrow to Newquay is certainly one of the shorter routes in the British Airways portfolio. Although, the flight is not quite as short as the airline’s tag flight from Bahrain to Dammam which is 54 miles. British Airways told Simple Flying that an Airbus A319 would be used for the aircraft. British Airways will operate its hop from London to Newquay five days per week starting on the 2nd of July. The route will operate until the 7th of August, for just over two months. It seems as though BA is attempting to target the peak beach season in the Cornish destination. The new route to Newquay will be BA’s first new route domestic route since the carrier launched flights to Inverness in 2016. Tickets for the route will soon go on sale on the British Airways website. The airline said that return fares will start for as little as £90 in the economy cabin and £250 in the business cabin.
The schedule
It seems as though the airline is using leftover slots here and there to launch the flight, as the time varies depending on the day of departure. On Monday and Friday, BA1350 will depart from Heathrow at 19:05, arriving in Newquay at 19:15. The return BA1351 will depart from Newquay at 20:15, landing back in London at 21:25.
On Thursday BA1350 will depart at 07:00, arriving in Newquay at 08:10. Meanwhile, after a 09:10 the return will arrive back in London at 10:20.
Saturdays see the earliest departure, leaving Heathrow at 06:40. The flight will arrive in Newquay at 07:50, before departing for London at 09:55. It will arrive back at 11:05.
Finally, on Sundays BA 1350 will depart Heathrow at 19:10, arriving at 20:20. The return will depart at 21:25, arriving back at 22:35.
