The Nigerian Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA) has rated Arik Air the most safety conscious airline 2019. NATCA, Abuja Chapter gave Arik the award during the induction ceremony of 12 newly rate air traffic controllers in Abuja. Captain Jide Bakare, the Director of Safety, Arik Air, received the award on behalf of Arik Air MD/CEO Capt. Roy Ukpebo Ilegbodu. Commenting, Capt. Bakare said the award speaks to the safety culture at Arik.
“I don’t want to say that we introduced any particular innovations, what we try to do is imbibe safety into our culture, it is part of our DNA. So it is something that we do and we put at the forefront of our minds at all times, so I guess maybe that is why they have seen it fit to present us with this award’’, he said.
